Our research themes

Research in the Centre for Environment, Heritage and Policy falls into six overarching research themes. Take a closer look at our work.

We make a difference to society by offering new perspectives on relationships between past, present and future.

We understand energy in an interdisciplinary and holistic way.

Our projects look at the social and security challenges emanating from climate and environmental problems.

We look beyond political narratives to explore the dynamic between humans and the environment in which we live, where nature matters in ways that cannot be separated from the human experience.

We research various aspects of the relationship between energy, water, climate, food production, culture, and the local environment.

This cluster addresses the triple environmental crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, but also the socio-ecological contradictions in their political responses, especially decarbonization policies.
